This adult unisex sweatshirt features a black and white photograph taken in 1937 during the Ohio River flood in Louisville, Kentucky. The image shows Black flood victims lined up for Red Cross relief beneath a billboard that reads “World’s Highest Standard of Living. There’s No Way Like the American Way.” The contrast between the billboard’s message and the reality below has made this photograph one of the most memorable visual commentaries on race, class, and American identity during the Great Depression.

Originally captured by Margaret Bourke-White, the photograph has been studied and exhibited for decades. For this piece, the image has been carefully edited, cropped, and enhanced for wear while preserving its powerful historical impact.

Crafted from a 50% cotton and 50% polyester blend, the sweatshirt combines soft comfort with durable wear. The air-jet spun fleece resists pilling and feels smooth against the skin, while double-stitched seams add strength for long-lasting use. Its unisex fit is true to size, making it easy to layer or wear on its own. Available in a range of adult sizes, this sweatshirt pairs historical depth with modern style.
